Its stamina is excellent as well. This is currently unsubstantiated, and clearly not a concern elsewhere in the world, where the P20 Pro is available both unlocked without a contract, and through multiple major networks. He spends most of his time either writing or listening to music or traveling un-seen places. Google Pixel 2 Video scores explained The Huawei P20 achieves a Video score of 94 points, placing it in third position in our rankings, trailing only its stablemate P20 Pro and the Google Pixel 2. On occasion it would produce a horrible photo full of odd lines and artifacts, so there's definitely room for improvement there.
The comparison devices lag behind the Huawei by quite a margin. In spite of its massive networking and telecommunications business, and the millions of phones it sells in its native China, Huawei has remained an underdog in other smartphone markets. The battery of the P20 Pro makes me laugh. Samsung Galaxy S9+ left and Huawei P20 Pro right can also be had in purple. The P20 Pro supports the Dolby Atmos standard, and the audio coming out of its speakers sounds quite different — a little more detailed, and with a wider soundstage. As you can see in the test samples below, depth estimation is very good, resulting in only minor segmentation artifacts around the subject. The track sounds bigger and more spacious on rival phones, too, the P20 Pro not quite giving the track the same sense of scale.
The single-lens Pixel 2, on the other hand records, a visibly softer and less detailed image than the Huawei. It'll recognize scenes like sky, greenery and food. The colors from the iPhone X shot are a bit more vivid and the photo looks more attractive from afar, but check out the loss of detail compared to the P20 Pro. Les couleurs sont réalistes, sans pécher par excès de saturation. Spatial sound aside, the P20 Pro also turned out plenty loud in our testing, securing a spot in the Excellent bracket. No phone we've tested this year has turned as many heads on the streets of New York City.
The cameras it does have also have a different megapixel mix fewer megapixels, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. This camera offers 3x optical zoom, which can be enhanced digitally to 5x. Ultra snapshot: Whiles the screen's off, you can shoot a picture in 0. The P20 Pro is also capable of super-slow motion video recording at 960fps. Once the telephoto lens is switched on, at a 3x zoom or above, the Huawei P20 Pro gains substantial clarity. Noise is well-controlled, too, and image detail is nicely preserved. As to the Pixel, I still favor it on the strength of its unique camera and clean Android experience, but the P20 Pro beats it on every other criterion.
Huawei offers the option to mask the notch by keeping the display around it blacked out, except for notification and status icons. And the P20 Pro is no slouch either in video mode, thanks to class-leading image stabilization, a good autofocus, and very low noise levels. The latter is particularly useful for -stacking fusion in computational imaging applications. Huawei installed a color temperature sensor amid all those camera lenses, and it seems to do a pretty good job. Zoom and Bokeh The P20 does not come with a dedicated optical tele-lens, but the secondary monochrome high-resolution sensor and some computational are capable of producing very good zoom results with decent detail at short 2x zoom ranges. Expect it in a future, more mainstream Huawei phone.
In the graph below, you can see that at a low light level of 20 Lux, the P20 autofocus system is capable of locking the focus consistently and reliably for both long and short delays before capture. The Huawei P20 Pro and regular P20 are packed with cutting edge photography features. That sounds great in theory; unfortunately, I haven't had the phone long enough to see for myself. But more to the point, the P20 Pro is easy to pick up and to grip securely. We experienced no performance problems with games, or system stability issues during day-to-day use. Android P is currently in beta.
The P20 Pro feels incredibly solid in the hand; it's curvy and comfortable to hold and, to me, its 6. A decent performance by the P20 Pro overall, but a step below the flagship average these days. When you hold the mesmerizing, iridescent Huawei P20 or P20 Pro phones in Twilight, it's hard to focus on anything other than the way the color changes in the light. Target exposure on the subject is very good, while at the same time a lot of detail is preserved in the bright background of the image. Loudspeaker The P20 Pro has a similar stereo setup we've been seeing on Huawei phones since at least the Mate 9 - the earpiece is also a second speaker complementing the main bottom-firing one. Only serious multitaskers will feel the difference. The fact that a Chinese smartphone maker is trying to out-Apple Apple wasn't that surprising, but I didn't expect the P9's rear dual-camera system to be as it was.
But most of the time it did work, with stellar results. The P20 Pro's hybrid zoom didn't have that issue. In portrait, both speakers are still active, but there's no channel separation. The telephoto lens has a 5x hybrid zoom capacity, with the optical zoom going to 3x, and then further enhanced digitally to 5x. While it still lags behind the on this front, the Huawei P20 Pro is still more than capable of tackling any Android application you throw at it.
The standard beauty mode is back to help digitally smooth out skin and make eyes larger, but again, the Portrait mode's results are hit or miss here. Using night mode, you can get ultra-dark shots with dynamic range and detail far in excess of most of this phone's rivals. However most rival flagships now offer this feature, including top-end phones from Google and Apple, and it's also something available in the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. When it comes to selfie portraits, still sets the standard. However, it's still quite small and tightly packed, so it's not one of the most ergonomic scanners we've encountered. You can even zoom in for a closer look at distant subjects Still shots taken in both daylight and low-light are crisp and full of detail. Exposure and Contrast 93 The Huawei P20 Pro does a very good job in terms of exposure.
Huawei's imaging algorithms and settings, while a little aggressive with saturation and bokeh effects, sometimes employed only a light touch to photos. The smaller P20 also comes in champagne gold. In addition, autofocus, auto , and exposure all operate reliably down to very low light levels. Bass notes are picked up well enough, too. The main question is: How patient are you? It'll recognize food images and nature shots with great speed and accuracy. When it comes to evening shots, the P20 Pro beats even its excellent predecessor, the Mate 10 Pro, on details and sharpness, but the iPhone X did win on some occasions. Zoom and Bokeh The Huawei P20 Pro comes with a two-pronged approach to zooming.
